Kodak Portra 400 Street Life Preset

I’m happy to finally share the Lightroom preset I’ve been using for over a year in my photography!

After many hours of experimenting to recreate the look of the classic Portra 400 film, I realized I didn’t want to just copy the film stock—I wanted to create something of my own. This preset is heavily inspired by Portra 400, but with a twist that makes it more suitable and versatile for street photography.

It works best on RAW files, but you can still get great results on JPEGs. Sometimes, I even blend it with Fujifilm’s Classic Negative profile, and the combination is magic. That said, using it this way can limit flexibility a bit. On the other hand, applying the preset to a RAW file gives you much more control to dial in the final look and make minor adjustments as needed.

Photo to Lightroom -> Apply the preset -> Adjust the color temperature to desire -> Export -> Minor work in Photoshop -> Done! It’s really that simple. Ever since I started using this preset, I’ve been saving so much time—especially when editing large batches of photos after a trip. No more going through each photo one by one; the preset gives me a consistent base look that I can tweak as needed and easily adapt to any lighting situation.

Here are some photos with the Lightroom preset applied::

I’d love to share my beloved preset with you—for free.

If you enjoy using it as much as I do, feel free to buy me a coffee to support my work. Your support helps me keep my website running and keeps me out shooting more street photography.
